A friend recently told me he was taught to write with the heart and edit with the head. I am not sure I was actually taught that, but that is certainly what I do! The challenge I often find is that it can be tricky to keep them in a happy balance and not let one overpower or interfere with the other... to let them work together as friends and colleagues... like two horses pulling a coach...
Hmmm… This metaphor brings coaching to mind! A coach takes you from point "A" to point "B" faster than you could walk the same distance… You are pulled forward by the twin horses of heart and head…the client's of course! ... and the client is in the driver's seat since s/he knows his or her horses best, as well as the route, and the pace they want.
Hmmm… that would make “coaching” a verb like “motoring” or “sailing” or “doodling” or … “Shall we go coaching?”
